Each doormat is made from the husks of approximately 25 coconuts. The husks are first "matured" in coastal lagoons where they are harvested, then beaten by hand to extract the fibers. The doormats are then painted and colored by hand, one by one, using different stencils. A traditional outdoor sun-drying technique is then used to fix the paint to the surface of the doormat. Finally, a non-slip base is added to keep the doormat firmly in place and reduce the risk of slipping.
